The little things

katedemore

Hi! I hope your day is going so well! I wanted to do a quick little write about some little things I have been doing to make myself feel better and feel more like me again.

This could be different for everyone, for some people, things that make them feel like themselves are getting their nails done, going for a walk or run, reading, etc etc. I have been spending a lot of time making little changes in my day to be more productive and in a better mental state. The first thing I do every morning is when my alarm goes off, I get right up. I don't lay in bed on my phone because I found that I used to wake up earlier then I needed too just to lay in bed on my phone. That is such a negative way to start your day. Instead, I just get right out of bed and make my bed and then get ready for the day. I know that sounds dumb and trust me, it is easier said then done, but I love the way it makes me feel almost strong in some kind of way. Like laying in bed is soooo nice but I like toughen up and get right out of bed. Another thing I do, is listen to this podcast one of my best friends told me about, "date yourself instead". I have heard great things about it because she talks about everything from breakups to ways to come out of slumps. I really admire her honesty and how she always reminds her listeners that the universe doesn't want to hurt you, it wants to see you grow. When she says the universe, I think of God. God doesn't want to see me fail, but he sees the end picture that none of us see, so it is all about trusting that plan. I also have been drinking fun drinks like lemonade or Diet Coke or even Liquid IV in wine glasses. I know that sounds dumb but its so cutie and feminine and I love it. It shows that if. you listen to yourself, you will see what small little details can romanticize your life. And last, its back to my phone. Before I go to bed, I journal some bad and good things that happened today and what I am grateful for. I also have been reading this amazing book my aunt gave me called "Soul Print". It is really really good! It's about how each person is different and has their own identity and it is like a help book on how to use Jesus to find your identity, because you cannot find yourself without finding Jesus. But I ready a few pages of that before I read some of my book. I don't touch my phone and just leave it charging so that way I'm not wrapped up in the negative things I see on social media.

One last thing, I found myself repeating my same prayer every night before bed. I would always say "thank you for my blessings", and things like that and I realized that I wasn't being genuine behind my prayer. I started to really think about specific things im worried about or grateful about because listing the things you are grateful for really shows you just how blessed you are.

Love y'all so much:)

Kate
