Balance

Hi loves! Today we are going to be discussing balance as a college student or just as a student in general and how to keep yourself feeling good when you are stressed out.


For me personally, stress relief can be going to the gym, going for a walk, watching my favorite show (Glee at the moment), baking when I'm at home, or calling someone who I love like my mom or Graham (my boyfriend). Stress can easily take over me and I can become overwhelmed very easily, like very. When I get stressed, I usually cry it out and I always try to do those things I listed above but it is not easy. For some people, they can just drop everything when they feel stress rising and do the right thing for themselves but using their stress relief techniques. But for me, it isn't always that easy. I think it really is important to try those methods that work best for you because when I become stressed and emotional, I take it out on my body. My body works so hard to keep me alive and do what I do everyday and it deserves as much love as possible.


Finding balance in your life can be hard, it is for me at least. Coming to college, it was hard to find that healthy balance and be able to feel good emotionally, physically, and mentally. I am currently balancing my sorority, playing on lacrosse team, classes, and a possible new job at the UT gym (I have interview tmr). So I am busy 24/7 but when I can, I take time for myself. Balance is making that time and making it a habit to take the time for yourself to do what makes you feel good and do what you enjoy so you don't lose track of what's going good in your life, not just what is stressing you out.


The main thing I am trying to say is just that making sure that you take time for yourself and do what you love helps maintain a healthy balance in your life. I make sure that I spend "me time" everyday and do something that makes me feel good so that I keep my mental health in check and on days where I'm not doing the best, it helps me relax and feel better. Again, everyone has their own stress relief methods but please take this message into consideration. Take the time. Do what you enjoy. Make your happiness your priority. Because that is exactly how balance should work in your life. If it's with school, work, or anything, take that time because trust me, it will make all the difference with your stress levels and mental health.
